On the 2.5h boat ride from Salvador to Morro de Sao Paulo, a small island where we will spend ”resaca” (literally “hangover”, the five days succeeding the carnival), Ouah-lait finds it wise to sleep. Note: he always sleeps with his mouth wide open. Pretty animal…
Morro is a beautiful island. Post-army Israelis vacationers are so numerous here that, everywhere on the island, from ho(s)tel to restaurant to party can be flyers, everything is written in Spanish and Hebrew. Every now and then, as below, English translations found. But it’s uncommon.
The Island is simple to navigate : a small city center – where accommodations, restaurants, convenience stores and internet can be found – and four beaches – where accommodations, restaurants, convenience stores, internet and cheap cocktail stalls can be found. There is no paved road of course, only sand. The water is warm beyond belief, maybe 35 degrees. Below, beach two.
The dock.
Beach one (and one ugly man).
Between beach one and beach two.
Where we bath.
Three freaking playboys.
Have a second look. It’s worth it. Click on the picture for a better sight.
After day comes the night. Oh what a night.
Nothing like an open-air party.
Classic Wale moment. In business with the zebra for about an hour and obviously…nothing happened. Not a problem, since ten minutes after, Wale was already in business with another young lady, a Californian. Same ending though.
United colors of benetton (le noir, le pale et le basane).
The guy with the hat was just insane. Probably on happy pills. At one point, he danced with a one-legged man on crutches. Surrealistic.
On the left hands up, one of Youri’s conquest. He may thank g.od (or me, not to display another photo) the photo is blurred.
Partying until dawn. All this energy drug-free.
Day is coming – and so is ugly-time.
View of the bay from the party place.
The gremlins. Youri coined the term. She was a friend (or the mother ? the aunt ?) of Youri’s conquest (see above).
Uncle Ben’s and Miro Slapkovic.
There is a lot going on in this movie. A thirty-something lady surprisingly seduced by a 14 year-old Brazilian, Ela Toda Boa – a Carnival anthem – being endlessly sung by drunk locals, me eating a “maracuya” (passion-fruit) sorbet, Youri’s conquest eating an ice cream (she should not), taxis (the guys with the wheelbarrows) bringing stuff to the city, Youri calling “the gremlins”, “the gremlins” hiding, Wale laughing…
Morro at about 7am.
Morro at 7.12 am.
One of the beach cocktail booths I was talking about. For 5 reals (less than two USD), your choice of alcohol and fresh squeezed your-choice-of-fruit juice.
The party ends early tonight though. The beach at 4am.

Thats a very nice island! I have been there a week ago and did a amazing whale whatching trip. We saw many humpback whales jumping. Was great!
